Canadian Grand Prix 2015

I was lucky enough to spend my weekend in MTL with my father watching the Canadian Grand Prix. Which if you know me, is a huge deal. I was basically stoked the whole weekend, and had highlights of briefly encountering Formula 1 legend Sir Jackie Stewart downtown, and watching Kimi lose it right in-front of me during the race.

Walking up to the track on friday morning was surreal, as Mike and I were crossing the bridge to the circuit, the cars were just starting to get on track. I had never seen a live F1 car before, so hearing the cars carve around the track as we were waiting in line was just making me more and more anxious to finally stand beside the track. Mike and I weren't quite ready for how quick they actually are, on tv with tracing shots they seem fast, but its hard to really get a grasp on their speed. But when they drive by you five meters away, exceeding 340 km/hr it kinda sets in. Mike left after FP1, which was probably a good idea. As it soon down poured, and all the cars hid in the pits. The Merc's were brave enough to face the wet track, but quickly binned it in-front of us, and that basically ended the day.

My dad joined me on the Saturday and Sunday and it was his first time watching a race, so I had to teach him quite a bit. But by the end of the race, I think he understood that not every car is a Ferrari, and that they the red ones. Ill try to show him which ones are the McLaren's next year... The race was fantastic though, watching Vettel and Massa run up the grid, especially Vettels brief battle with Alonso right in-front of us at the Hairpin. It was an absolute blast of a weekend, and cant wait to go again next year.

Go Button.
